STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The dreary weather cleared out just in time for the start of the Dr. Theodore A. Atlas Foundation’s 10th annual golf outing Tuesday at the South Shore Golf Course. The game was played under sunny skies and was followed by a sports auction and dinner at the Grand Oaks Country Club.
Less than two years ago, the Dr. Theodore A. Atlas Foundation was knee deep in requests for help in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, a natural disaster some still have not recovered from.

NEW YORK (May 29, 2014) – The Dr. Theodore A. Atlas Foundation continues its invaluable fundraising in the boxing community Saturday night, June 7, hosting a Miguel Cotto vs. Sergio Martinez Benefit Party, at Jack Demsey’s Pub (33 West 33rd St.) in Manhattan.
The lack of affordable housing is an issue for Jayson Romero and Shaquka Ingram, who are homeless and trying to find jobs. Even with a charity offering to pay their rent, finding a home was tough because they lacked jobs. And the homeless system made it tougher for them to find employment.
